July 20 2025: Proper 11
This week: Rev. David Holmes & the theme: "Is Hospitality Worth the Risk?" Focus Scripture: Genesis 18:1–10a and Luke 10:38–42
Dave was ordained in 1988. He currently lives in Lacombe, Alberta, serving St. Andrew’s United Church. He is married (to another United Church minister, and a very fine one), and a father of two grown sons, of whom he is very proud. He plays the guitar, likes hiking and biking, and has a weakness for card and board games. He confesses to being a foodie; with an expensive taste in Scotch, which he blames on his fellow Heretics. He loves to barbecue and appreciates the benefits of being among farms and farmers…He is a school junkie; happiest when he is learning. This is a hard time to be a church, so re-inventing ourselves is a must, repenting in the process of a change that is quite deep and profound. While it is a hard time, both in and out of the church, t is also an exciting time. Dave hopes to bring this excitement to his blog, as well as to his ministry.
